The Teaching and Leadership Center creates a model for Alternative Certification Programs and serves Broward County Public Schools as a comprehensive resource for selecting quality teacher candidates its classrooms. Through the Transition to Teaching initiative the TLC successfully developed and delivered the STAR Program (2004-2010) and continues to implement the IMPACT Program (2009-13) and Project PROMISE (2007-2012).
Wednesday
Mentoring is provided for classroom support with feedback from Mentors working through TLC. This is a coaching model for participants to receive support in areas such as instructional strategies,curriculum delivery, academic rigor, use of academic time, student engagement, and etc. TLC support is not evaluative. The format is a classroom visit with feedback. If you need additional information, you may contact Cynthia Fowler at 954-236-1033.
Thursday
The TLC's Teacher Leadership event is scheduled each summer at Davie's FAU Campus. The twelve hour event is scheduled during four evenings from 5:00PM until 8:00PM. Required reading for this event is the CHAMPs book by Randy Sprick.
SBBC teachers receive a free copy of the CHAMPs book when attending the CHAMPs training through ESS/BRITE or through the NTA (New Teacher Academy).
